Join the SAFCS Register Online Membership is open to all doctors of medicine and osteopathy who practice surgery, anesthesiology or emergency medicine and doctors of podiatric medicine. Doctors of dentistry who limit their practice to oral surgery and CRNA's are also eligible. You must be serving on active duty in the Armed Forces Medical Corps. To include being in a residency training or fellowship and under the supervision of a Board Certified surgeon, and be in the active or inactive Armed Forces Reserve or National Guard. Civilian residents in military/civilian integrated programs will also be eligible for Society membership during the period of their training only. All new members will complete an application. MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES Resident Members: Physician in residency training until completion. PGY-1 -- No dues or initiation fee required; must have program director's signature. PGY-2 through Fellowship -- Initiation fee and first year dues total $35.00. Thereafter, Society dues are $25.00 per year until residency or fellowship is completed. Active Members: Board eligible surgeons on active duty and completed residency less than five years ago. Initiation fees and first year dues total $70.00. Thereafter, Society dues are $75.00 per year. Senior Members: Board certified surgeons who have practiced their specialty for five years subsequent to completion of formal training and/or active duty, board certified, completed residency more than five years ago. Initiation fee and first year dues total $100.00. Thereafter, Society dues are $110.00 per year. Associate Members: Armed Forces physicians or dentists actively engaged in the practice of surgery, either in resident training or under the supervision of board certified surgeon, or active or inactive Armed Forces Reserve or National Guard surgeons. Retired, Reserve, National Guard or Separated. Initiation fee and first year dues total $100.00. Thereafter, Society dues are $110.00 per year. Life Members: Member in good standing for 25 years. Not required to pay annual dues. Honorary Members: By unanimous agreement of the Board of Governors.
